Look, I don't like killin' people, and I'd wager you don't either. [She gives Beatrix an earnest look, crossing her arms.] There would have been more dead people here, for one thing. For another, you gave up killin' for a while, and you were pretty damn pissed when the selfish fuckers came and took your happiness away.

But it's not all you got left.

For one thing, there are a lot of women that are in the company of men that will do them grievous harm. You are in the position to defend them. I know that workin' for free generally isn't your strong suit, but workin' for personal satisfaction is and makin' them safe can be pretty satisfying work.

On top of that, I'm not gonna tell you not to do what you want to do. I don't like killin' myself. I will if it's a soulless fucker or someone about to sell me out to a soulless fucker, but not 'til I know. But I do acknowledge that you had five people walk into your wedding, kill every friend you made that you didn't have to be afraid of, your future husband, shoot you, and then robbed you of your daughter and left you alive, unsupervised in a hospital where you were exploited for four fuckin' years while they went on with their merry little lives.

But I think it's in you to not let someone hire you to do something like they did. And I think it's in you to make sure that's not repeated if you catch it goin' down. Am I wrong?

That's your idea? [She's not going to belittle it but she sounds doubtful. There's a large amount of women at men's mercy and it's never occurred to her she might be in a position to help them.

I just got a few people I kinda like. Jesse and Dean are cool. That Irish demon with the cute accent, too. Normally I'm very iffy on demons but because of that one flood where he couldn't bullshit me I know he's on the up and up. [She shrugs because she's not met a whole lot of people.]

Jesse's a nice kid. [Although kind of an idiot. And Dean graduated Kon, so she holds some appreciation for him.]

I'll bite. What's your whole demon thing?

[She makes a face as she racks her brain for where to start.] Okay, there's at least three types of demon. The tortured souls that are turned into lesser demons, the possessed bodies which are taken over by demons- the ones I know? You don't get those bodies back... And the high-ranking demons. The first two can be killed by taking out their eyes, by blood from the key, or by shoving them through a barrier made with the key's blood.

The high-ranking ones can't pass through blood seals or get near the key blood either, but trying to Moe Howard their eyes out just gets you bupkis. They don't have no souls to release, tortured or not.

How'd you start out against them? You said there was a hotel but I don't know much beside that.

Can you defeat the high-ranking ones with the blood or the key?

[It's her turn to look a little uncomfortable, but logically she knows she has a file on Beatrix and knows what happened to her.] Guy just showed up. The demon came after. When I was the last one alive, the guy tells me that I'm the one whose gotta carry the key, and the stars on my palm will tell when the next demon knight is ready to take over. Seven people, seven stars. He didn't have long to tell me much. Circumstances were kinda workin' against us. [Her soft chuckle is also a little mournful. A lot of people died, and he was one of the rare people she knew she automatically liked from the moment she saw him; whether that was destiny or not, she can't say now.]
