[The Admiral's announcement had been less than welcome to B. It's not merely that her real name was broadcast over the entire Barge – she rues that, but not as much as she dislikes the idea of being under someone else's charge. Especially someone whose name she doesn't recognize, someone she hasn't willingly accepted as a mentor.

She stays secluded in her room for a long time before sending out a private message to this Sarah Connor person – her new warden.

God, is that an unpleasant thought.]

Sarah Connor, we have business to discuss. Level 4 room 13.

[Sarah got the note and headed out--no file folder yet, but that was fine. She felt better that she'd finally been re-paired. Giaus's departure had kicked her pretty hard, and then when nothing had followed, it had just felt weird as hell. She'd come informally, no leathers, no fancy shit, just the sleek modern dagger strapped to her thigh and a good dose of her own curiosity.

She knocked once and stepped away from the door.]

[Beatrix has set her communicator aside, running the blade of her knife lengthwise against the edge of her desk. It's doing little to sharpen it but there's comfort in the action, and it's better than sitting idle.

When she hears the knock on the door she barely looks up, just shifts back in her seat and sets the knife on her knee, within easy reach just in case she needs it.]

Come in.

[Sarah turned the knob and let it drift wide enough for her to ease it, her hands up to show she wasn't reaching as she found her inmate, and promptly burst out laughing.]

Well, shit. I guess we should have actually traded names.

[Beatrix stares for a second before cracking a smile. She places the knife on the desk and stands up, hand extended.]

Probably should've. Sarah Connor, I presume?

Want some water or something?

Huh. Yeah. That's me, and I'm good. As far as I'm concerned you can call me what you like. [She took the offered hand, still smiling.] Goddamn but the Admiral has a sense of humor.

Sarah it is then. [Beatrix smothers a chuckle.] I have to say, if he had to put me under anyone's command I'm glad he picked someone I can stand.

First of all, let's get one thing straight. You're not under my command. [She leaned up against the desk.] I'd like to think this is a two person operation. There's only one damned way out and only one way to get there.

Oh, I like that. Fine. If we can uphold that expectation, so much the better.

As long as we respect each other, I think this will work out. [Her expression turned serious.] I won't lie to you and I'll have your back no matter what. And that's where this begins.
