[Art room spam]
[Bea's almost made it to a thousand paper cranes. When worry or anger overtook her in the days since port she parked herself in the art room and began working on the origami; several sessions later, she's hit nine hundred and is still working hard. She's surrounded by her handiwork, cranes of different sizes and colors littering the table around her as she folds another piece of paper sideways.

The look on her face, however, is not one of determination or concentration. She's frowning, eyes downcast, brow furrowed as she works. The task is obviously not what's on her mind.]

People really fail to appreciate what a kitchen has to offer. Pans are fucking fantastic. One of the cast iron kind? Or the little sheet-metals?

Nothing like a couple pounds of metal when you need a blunt weapon. And I'm pretty sure I could crack bone with a rolling pin-- they got good grips on'm.

You know what's great for a two or three use shield? Cookie sheet. Someone could get a knife through if they try hard enough, but really, the pause after their first try's plenty of time to break their neck.

[Accepting the invitation, she smiles back before glancing around to take in the room.]

You must be my guardian angel. I've been dying for tea.

[His room is rough stone, decorated in the key of 'animal pelt' and 'rough wooden furniture', but he has a pretty sleek little camp stove he takes out to start the tea, sturdy metal cups and kettle. One wall is a display of weapons, behind a forcefield -- he puts the crane with those.

And of course, there's the stickers. He likes them.]

It's the little civilized touches. I got mint, some Ceylon, green with toasted rice-?

[He's definitely got a far more interesting setup than the generic motel room that is her cabin. She pauses to look over some of the pelts, hand resting on the rough-hewn furniture. The weapons take her attention, of course, but don't fully hold it.]

Whatever you prefer. Is this what the architecture is like where you come from?

[He chuckles and gets out the green tea. ]

I don't really 'come from' anywhere-- and this is sure as shit a lot nicer then the government home the salvage team dropped me at.

Nah, it's sorta like a cave I lived in for a while--probably the happiest I've been, off barge. But civilized enough to have guests over. And warmer.

I'll admit, it's the nicest cave I've ever been in.

The orphanage or juvie both count, neither one had great architecture.

It's comfortable. Some of these hides are copies of ones I skinned and cured myself. Besides here and there, I never lived somewhere that felt so much like it belonged to me.

You took all these down yourself? [After hunting with him on the island she's not surprised, but nonetheless impressed.] No wonder you know your way around a prey animal.

Took a couple years to get a collection like this, but yeah.

Back when it was me, Ben and Rhade on the dinner shift, we'd go out game hunting to blow off steam. We're just getting to the end of the venison jerky now.

Shit, that must have been a party. I'd wish I went but I wouldn't have been able to keep up.

Humans, mostly. And when I trained my teacher had me hunt and haul the rice.

How many people really like manual labor? After awhile I got used to it. He worked me hard but I came out the better for it.

There's something soothing to production. Weapons, food... simple task, important goal. You can get into that.

[The kettle starts to boil-- Riddick moves it off the heat and waits thoughtfully until it's not so hot it will stew the leaves before he pours into the pot with the loose leaves and grains.]

I picked this stuff up last time we were on Earth. I was 'tolling at the time; needed something friendly.

[The smell that rises up does have the scent of lightly toasted rice, adding an earthy, warm undertone to the delicate green tea smell.]
