004 VOICE LIST TWO

So. Angels, aliens, mutants, magicians, vampires, motherfucking superheroes and a few I've got to be missing. It's getting tough to ignore exactly who our fellows are.

It's got me a little curious. How many of us are warriors? In the handful of weeks I've been here I've seen everything from bruised knuckles to plate-mail, so I figure there's no shortage of fighters around which means no shortage of fighting styles. Following up on that, one more question: How many of us – or of you – might be willing to share your knowledge? A girl can never know too much self-defense.

[It's a sorry excuse for a supplication like that, and she amends it.]

Whatever your preferred weapon or style, please, I'd like to learn. Anyone who'd take on a student or a not-entirely-green sparring partner, I'll offer you a trade. You show me what you know, and I'll be your punching bag.

I'd say I can lift around four to five hundred pounds. Part of that is through my telekinesis and the other part through working out at the gym. I work out every day for a couple of hours. [Is also employed at the gym.]

I've been thinking of taking up meditation or yoga as well. I'm game for the old fashioned way.

That's a level of force I can deal with. The bodybuilders must just weep with envy when you come by. [Clearly she should have been spending more time there!]

Then the old-fashioned way it is. Have you tried yoga or meditating before?

Nice, for most humans that's still a lot of force. [When you can take out 88 sword wielding bros, the gym is kind of overrated.]

[Shakes his head.] No, I haven't. I am going to do some training with my Warden as well but I don't think he's going to cover that.

I couldn't generate that much, but working around it is a different story. [Well, not exactly 88 of them... they just thought it sounded cool.]

We can start tomorrow morning then. Do you know what your warden is planning to teach you?

He is going to teach me some self defense techniques but I don't think they are going to be a particular discipline. More improve like. [That's his guess based on how he saw Dean handle the ghouls during Gotham.]

That's still a valuable skill. [If she knew about that, she'd be sorry she missed it.] Who's your warden?

Dean Winchester. Now that I think about it, I should run this by him first. He'll want to know who is giving me some additional training and all.

We haven't met. [Therefore, she has no idea if Dean will trust her any further than he can throw her. It'd probably be undisciplined to offer instruction even if he says no, right?] I could talk to him as well if you wanted.

If you wouldn't mind, that would be great. [Smiles gratefully. And if Dean says no, then they'll just have to hang out sometime. If martial arts happen to happen...then they happen.]

Of course I wouldn't mind. [She smiles back, pleased to have found someone else with an interest in training. The kid deserves to learn. Martial arts will definitely be happening, however informal the approach.] Don't think I caught your name, by the way.

Oh, I'm Kon-El but you can call me Kon for short. [Rubs the back of his head looking sheepish.] Figures I'd ask someone to train me before asking for their name.

[Kon-El. She was never the biggest Superman fan but recognizes the name as Kryptonian. B is, however, polite enough not to let her surprise show beyond a little smirk.] Kon? I like that. You can call me Beth.

Hey, it just means you've got your priorities straight.

Nice to meet you, Beth. I look forward to training with you.

You too, Kon. You work hard and I'll do the same.

Deal. Let me know when you've gotten a chance to talk to Dean, please.
